Franklin D. Roosevelt's Campaign
Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Democrat
FDR knew about the Depression and decided to step up and run for president in order to help American people regain their faith.
Throughout his campaign, he had a popular song called "Happy Days are here Again" as his theme.
He proposed "A New Deal" for the american people, which was a way to deal with the Great Depression. He kept returning to the phrase "New Deal" throughout the campaign, although he never really went into detail of what he might pursue.
Roosevelt did all that he possibly could to not make any mistakes that would draw away from Hoover's failures while being president. FDR suceeded and didn't draw the people's attention away from Hoover's flaws.
He compared Hoover's incumbency to the four Ds "Destruction, Delay, Despair and Doubt"
Democrats were hopeful that the 1932 presidential election would bring the first Democratic victory since Woodrow Wilson in 1916
